I Stand There

He stands there, with my pain nailed through his hands
With one foot embedded on top of the other
He is suffering, but only I have the power to bring him down
But I choose to selfishly leave him there
Because his suffering is what has brought me here

I stand there, in his enduring majesty
Befuddled at what I see,
As my eyes fixture at what I have done
If only I had known the price to bear my cross
Alienation would have been a thing of the pass

As I cry my beloved Savior,
For you, I stand alone with my iniquitous ways
With imperfection, in your holiness
But you continue to suffer, unyielding in your might
I stand there, hoping one day you will reach out for my hand

Until you willingly come down from my sinful ways
I will stand there, in your majestic presence
Casting down my glory crown
And bear the cross that leaves me helpless
But has delivered me to your undying mercy
Where I shall never leave and stand there…
