God's Grace

I am an African man
Dragged from my homeland
In cuffs and chains,
Physically enslaved,
But mentally set free through God's grace
I am a Black man
Only through the iris of others
But I am an African man
By the grace of God
Oppressed,
Sold at ease
My soul,
Undermines all transgressions
And rejects self pity as my injustice
But seeks retribution through my righteous thoughts
The only justice that is immeasurable
I am an African man
Straight from the Mother Ship
Along with my Black Queen
In cuffs and chains,
Physically enslaved,
But still together
Side by side,
Like my shadow,
Night and day,
Until my dying ways
She will be my soul mate
My everything,
From the highest above
Through our ancestor's time of misery…
